Cleaning Program Post-Action Map

  • The named program started and the progress display changes: This rules out an idle care reminder and shows that the machine accepted a service-program command. It does not prove that every later tank, tray, door, water-flow, or Continue confirmation will be recognized. If the current phase remains within the exact E-Nr manual's time and the display advances, keep following the display without interrupting it.
  • The display names a tank, tray, door, tablet, container, or Continue step: The machine is waiting for that exact action; a quiet wait at this point is not proof of a frozen control. Complete the displayed step once, in the documented order, and preserve the screen before doing anything else.
  • The same prompt returns after the correct step was completed once: The step is no longer merely incomplete. The machine may not be recognizing the tank, tray, door, container, or control input; stop repeating the action and preserve the unchanged prompt for diagnosis.
  • The program accepts the step but expected water movement never begins: A completed prompt does not rule out water supply, pump flow, valve routing, or flow-feedback trouble. Record pump sound and where water appears; do not start another cleaning program to test it.
  • Power was lost or the program was interrupted: The interruption may place the checked BCM8450UC platform into Bosch's displayed special-rinse recovery. Follow only the exact E-Nr recovery shown on the display; an improvised restart does not prove the original program is complete.

Identify the Program Before Acting

  • Clean: Approximately five minutes on the checked manual; it uses a cleaning tablet at the instructed step.
  • Descale: Approximately twenty-one minutes; it uses the specified descaling material and water quantity.
  • Calc'nClean: Approximately twenty-six minutes and combines both care processes.
  • Special rinsing after interruption: Approximately two minutes and follows its own display-led recovery sequence.

These times are model-family guidance, not permission to ignore a leak, abnormal heat, or unchanged prompt. The full E-Nr manual controls the procedure.

Safe Checks

  • Match the machine and program: Use the complete E-Nr manual, not a similar Bosch coffee-machine procedure.
  • Verify the approved material before the next documented step: Confirm tablet or descaling-agent type, quantity, and location; descaling tablets do not belong in the coffee drawer.
  • Check owner-removable parts once: Reinstall the named tank, tray, or grounds container without forcing it, then leave repeated recognition testing to diagnosis.
  • Document output without starting another program: Record pump or drain sound and whether water appears at the outlet, tray, or cabinet.

What Not to Do

  • Do not interrupt an active service program unless a safety condition requires it.
  • Do not use vinegar, citric acid, drain cleaner, extra tablets, or an improvised tablet location.
  • Do not force the tank, tray, door, outlet, or brewing unit.
  • Do not repeatedly power-cycle the machine to escape the screen.
  • Do not open the pump, valves, sensors, wiring, or control compartment.

When to Stop

Stop immediately for water in the cabinet, uncontrolled hot discharge, smoke, a burning smell, repeated breaker trip, or a part that cannot be seated normally. Do not continue a program through any of those conditions; disconnect power only when it is safe and accessible.

What Diagnosis Must Confirm

Service should read the stored program state and prove water supply, pump flow, valve routing, flowmeter feedback, tray/tank/door sensing, heating where the program requires it, harness integrity, and control progression. The finding should name the confirmation the program lacks, not call every long pause a bad control.

What to Record Before Service

  • Program and prompt: Clean, Descale, Calc'nClean, or special rinsing plus exact screen text.
  • Elapsed time: Total time and time on the unchanged instruction.
  • Completed action: Tank, tray, container, tablet, door, vessel, or Continue.
  • Interruption: Power outage, breaker action, water refill, or door opening.
  • Output: Water from outlet, water in tray, pump sound, or no movement.
