  • What the completed action proves: Correct grease-filter cleaning completes that one maintenance action; correct charcoal-media replacement completes that one media action. Neither proves that the other filter state was addressed.
  • What it does not prove: Bosch HCB controls can use separate + and − acknowledgements for grease and charcoal warnings, while newer LED families use different inputs; the complete E-Nr manual owns the command. A charcoal counter applies only to a configuration that uses charcoal media, so the installed exhaust or recirculation mode must match the displayed maintenance state. Save the exact text, symbol, color, or LED before pressing anything else.
  • When filter care is not complete: A washed filter that is still wet, mis-seated, missing, or replaced with the wrong part must be corrected before a reset is meaningful. Do not operate the hood without its required grease filter.
  • What the display does next means: No acknowledgement after the exact reset points to an unregistered input. A warning that clears and immediately returns points to the selected counter, installed mode, saved configuration, or state persistence; neither response alone proves a failed control.

Safe Checks

  • Capture the warning: Photograph the full text, symbol, LEDs, and colors before pressing anything.
  • Identify the installed mode: Ducted hoods expel air outdoors; recirculating hoods use an activated-charcoal filter.
  • Match the filter: Confirm which filter was cleaned or replaced and that it is dry and seated as the exact manual shows.
  • Reset once by E-Nr: Use only the sequence in that full model's manual and record the beep/display response and return timing.

When to Stop

Stop for a damaged or missing grease filter, smoke, burning odor, arcing, melting, repeated breaker trip, or a filter/control area contaminated with liquid. Do not run the hood without its required grease filter, use random button combinations, open the control panel, or substitute a charcoal filter from a similar-looking model.

What Diagnosis Must Confirm

Diagnosis must verify the installed operating mode, exact filter configuration, reset-input registration, counter selection, saved configuration, and control-state persistence. The technician should reproduce the reset on the exact E-Nr before treating the display as a control failure.

What to Record Before Service

  • Identity: Full E-Nr/FD.
  • Warning: Exact text/symbol/color/LED pattern.
  • Action: Which filter was cleaned or replaced, product/part identity, dryness, and seating.
  • Reset: Exact buttons used, duration from the manual, and acknowledgement/return timing.
