Most Common Reasons a Bosch Induction Cooktop Zone Is Not Heating

  • The zone has not accepted the cookware: A flashing setting or cookware symbol means the induction zone is still in detection, not that a heater has failed. Resolve pan material, base size, and position first.
  • The wrong zone or FlexInduction state is selected: On equipped Bosch models, separate and combined zone modes can change which zone selection applies to the pan location. The visible selection must match the actual cookware position.
  • Thermal protection has interrupted the zone: Bosch documents zone and electronics overtemperature states. If heat stops after sustained load and a code remains, allow the documented cool-down and preserve the code if it returns.
  • The panel condition is blocking the command: Moisture, an object, or a hot pan over the controls can cause flashing or a protective code. Clear the visible condition only when the surface is safe and cool.
  • A detected zone is not producing controlled power: If the power level remains steady after pan acceptance but the zone stays cold, service checks that zone's sensing, wiring, and power output.

Accepted Pan Versus Rejected Pan

A flashing power setting belongs first to pan detection. A steady accepted setting with no temperature rise belongs to the zone's controlled power response. This distinction prevents cookware troubleshooting from being mixed with a true zone-output problem.

Safe Checks That Change the Diagnosis

  • Use one known pan: Keep pan, water amount, and power setting consistent.
  • Verify selection: Photograph which zone indicator and power level are active.
  • Read the code: Preserve F/U codes or flashing behavior before any reset.
  • Let protection cool: Follow only the exact E-Nr documented cool-down.

What Not to Do

  • Do not open the cooktop, test live voltage, or probe the inductor.
  • Do not force heat with empty cookware or an adapter plate.
  • Do not replace a zone, sensor, or module before proving pan acceptance.
  • Do not keep using a zone that heats unexpectedly or ignores its off command.

Stop Using the Cooktop When

Stop for cracked glass, smoke, electrical odor, unusual cabinet heat, unexpected heating, a repeat breaker trip, or a code that returns during ordinary use.

What a Technician Must Confirm

Service measures the detection signal, exact zone selection, FlexInduction state where fitted, temperature sensing, supply under load, and commanded power output. Those measurements isolate the failed channel without using the symptom as a parts verdict.

What to Record Before Service

  • Model: Complete E-Nr, FD/serial, and panel photo.
  • Comparison: Same pan result on affected and working zones.
  • Display: Steady setting, flashing setting, or exact code.
  • Timing: Immediate no-heat or shutdown after a known load.
