What Bosch Microwave E11 Means

The current Bosch US oven/microwave error page and checked HMB/HMC manuals agree: E11 or E-11 is a touch-key operation problem, and keypad condensation may be the cause. The code does not prove that a touch panel or control board must be replaced.

What to Do When E11 Appears

  • E11 followed steam, cooking, or cleaning and the control surface is damp: Leave the appliance off and dry only the exterior panel with a soft dry cloth. Do not spray cleaner, force keys, or apply heat. If the code clears and every key responds normally, record the event; no failed part is proved.
  • The panel is dry but E11 remains: Turn power off at the fuse/breaker for 10 seconds once, then restore it as Bosch instructs. Preserve the exact display before doing this.
  • E11 returns after the documented recovery: Stop repeating the reset. The touch interface, its supply/communication, or control recognition requires diagnosis. A technician must reproduce the code and test the exact model's touch-control system before selecting a part.
  • Keys make phantom inputs or will not Stop: Leave the appliance off. Unreliable controls are a service condition even if the code disappears temporarily.

E11 Is Not Every Bosch Touch Error

Preserve the exact punctuation and appliance. Bosch cooking products also use e011 or E011 on some oven/range platforms for a stuck/touch-sensor condition. That similar-looking code must not be transferred automatically to a microwave or speed oven. The complete E-Nr manual has priority.

Safe Checks

1) Photograph E11/E-11 and the control state.

2) Record whether steam, cleaning, damp hands, or a spill preceded it.

3) Wipe only the outside control surface with a soft dry cloth.

4) Allow visible moisture to clear naturally.

5) Perform one 10-second fuse/breaker interruption only as the matching manual directs.

6) Test whether every key responds normally without phantom input.

What Not to Do

  • Do not spray cleaner or water on the keypad.
  • Do not use a hair dryer, heat gun, or compressed air.
  • Do not remove the control panel or touch a ribbon cable.
  • Do not repeatedly cycle power.
  • Do not order a display or board from E11 alone.

When to Stop Using the Microwave

Leave it off if E11 returns, keys activate without touch, Start/Stop is unreliable, or there is smoke, electrical odor, abnormal heat, arcing, or a breaker trip.

What Diagnosis Must Confirm

Service verifies the exact code mapping, touch surface condition, interface supply, key signals, communication, and control response. The diagnosis must separate surface moisture from a persistent interface/control fault.
